New Labour moves against tobacco profits

I've found spiking kids' Coke or Pepsi drinks with cigarette ashes is a good deterrent, except for those who drink Dr. Pepper. The problem is that the addictive nature of cigarette smoking makes it very difficult to quit once a smoking pattern is established. So kids may smoke to be cool, piss of adults, etc. , but adults are most likely to smoke because they smoked as kids.

The earlier swill about the personal 'satisfaction' of smoking a cigarette during 'special moments' in one's life, or some such implication, makes about as much sense as having the freedom to enjoy a few good lines of coke, or a speedball, in celebration of a BCS bowl game victory. Yes smokers are free to enjoy their cigarettes, but are they free to enjoy a moment without one?

Yeah, the ads should say, "kids, don't smoke. smoking is for adults."

That'll cut teenage smoking right away.
