This is too glib. A lot of people actually do like work, even the kind most of us would consider unbearable. It is their life. It is their primary means of socialization. It is their identity. That's where their friends are. Choosing to work a ton of hours gives them a means for a measure of control over their income and status and is empowering in a world that perhaps affords them limited means for rewarding pursuits. Whether the fact that this enriches bosses necessarily requires dismissal of a particular lifestyle is a matter for debate. It is definitely a mistake and potentially chauvinistic for a progressive to decide that this constitutes having "no life." Edwin
