didn't the infamous corporate-liberal and technocratic former prez of
UC Berkeley, Clark Kerr, refer to the post-WW2 university as a 
'multiversity' in the early 1960s?...its purpose, as I recollect, 
to serve the national purpose by contributing to military, scientific,
