DeLong and fire trucks to the rescue

Whoa there Professor DeLong. The IMF is a fire truck! Maybe but they have gasoline in their hoses.

They may show a particular way of getting out of financial difficulty -- at least they may see it that way from their perspective -- but they act like a cop more than a fireman in prohibiting alternative methods of putting out the fire.

They would rather fire [pardon the pun] workers, especially government workers, increase trade. What if a government recommends extensive land reform to create jobs? What does the fireman say then?

Well, at least you put a :) at the end of your post, so I knew that it was partially with an element of humor.

Another arsonist,
