i realize that economics as we know it today did not exist when marx was an undergraduate, nor when he was penning capital. BUT, his work is still amongst the most important economic works in existence. to deny that he is an economist is to leave the field to those conservatives and neoclassical economists who also claim that marx was not an economist.
