Failure to bother avoiding the "voluntary" estate and gift tax is also a good example.

As for dividend payments, I would have thought you or Henwood would have solved that mystery by now.

Here's an off-the-cuff, meatball hypothesis: firms pay dividends to gull unsophisticated investors who push the price up and benefit the sharks and executives whose compensation is tied to stock prices.
