But I must point out that a key difference between le Roi and Romanov, on the one hand, and Ronnie and Randy, on the other, is that for the former there were larger masses of workers, artisans, and peasants marching in the streets protesting the regime's polices and later its existence. We see capitalism's economic failings in a big way during the Reagan and Clinton periods, but so far this has not been expressed in the form of a popular rebellion of the sort that creates a revolutionary situation.
