The "wretched of the earth " is a phrase from the Internationale. "Arise ye prisoners of starvation/ Arise ye WRETCHED OF THE EARTH."

But also, Fanon was explicitly a Marxist. John Paul Sartre, a semi-Marxist, was his intellectual comrade.
