N.B. There was an armed guard on duty. He got a shot off at the
two gunmen, they shot at him, and they all missed. He
retreated -- not imprudent in view of their relative level of
armament -- to call for backup. Two other cops got there pretty
quickly but never found the perps. The calvary got there in 20
minutes, but evidently the school is very large and they combed
through it slowly, perhaps so as not to miss anything, and didn't
get to the gunmen until they had done their deed and killed
themselves.
