That we are 'always already' ensmeshed in assumption follows from
Saussure's (implicit) critique of Bertrand Russel's theory of description.
Assumptions cannot always be mastered, made conscious and turned into
explicit assertion. Assertion always depends on some level of shared
assumption between utterers and receivers:
