Swastikas mar Columbine students' return LITTLETON, Colo. - Newly scrawled swastikas have marred students' return to Columbine High School. A mother of one of just 15 black students at Columbine reported that three freshly scrawled swastikas were found in two of the school's bathrooms. The walls were clean when she and other concerned parents toured the school one week ago, but on Monday they found one swastika in a boys' bathroom and two in girls' bathrooms. Another swastika was found scratched into the brick outside the school, said district spokeswoman Marilyn Saltzman. Students were mostly upbeat as they returned to class Monday, striving for a normal day under abnormal circumstances. Security has been tightened with armed guards, 16 more surveillance cameras, and all students and staff must wear ID badges. School officials have no leads to who left the swastikas but reiterated that jokes about the killings and racial or sexual jokes are grounds for immediate suspension.
