I think this is indicative of a certain confusion on the left - which was
excellently summarised by jim heartfield some time ago: the main thrust of
marxist critique of capitalism is not the level of production but the
distribution of surplus.

Charles: This is the main thrust of Ju-Chang He's critcism too. Ju-Chang is saying stop paying attention to the level of production only (GDProduct(ion)) and start paying attention to distribution of the surplus (poor people) too in evaluating your economic performance.
