Many anarchists are critical of Chomsky's recent opinions about suporting the State in the short term. I think some of them don't understand the nuances of his argmuments. I kind of agree with him, to a limited extent. As an anarchist librarian I have been active within my profession on issues of creeping corporatization and privitization of public libraries. Public libraries are among the last truly public spaces within communities. They also provide communities with the intellectual resources to fight back against capitalism, if patrons choose to use it for that reason.

Capitalism has colonized nearly every aspect of our lives, so it's important in the short term to protect those public spaces which still exist. I think that is common sense.
