Speaking of socks, I heard a great story about Ralph Nader while in Seattle. Just after graduating from law school, Nader walked into a store where they were selling white socks at $0.25 a pair. He bought 1,200. His reasoning: not only was the price irresistible, he'd never have to think about buying socks again.
