Nathan's comments on the '60s vs. now are interesting, perhaps even
valid. He sort of ignores however the fact that Ken Lawrence has not
been giving us primarily '60s history but *pre-60s* history: precisely
part of that history which u.s. education (k-12 and univ) is organized
to conceal. Much of what Ken has been giving is new to me, and I
appreciate it.
Incidentally, the question of whether one's practice has been glamorous
or trivial is not of great importance. It need only be enough to inform
one's theorizing (or understanding of the theorizing of others) the edge
that comes from recognizing the absolute priority of act to thought, of
practice to theory, which is core to marxism.
