What struck me as goofy about that piece was its attempts to divide the Left into the "Marxist" Left and the "Foucauldian" Left. The "Marxist" Left is, of course, comprised of straight white he-men who assert the primacy of class, whereas the "Foucauldian" Left is comprised of snivellling pointyheads who pander to identity politics. But the thing is, doesn't Post-Structuralism, by rejecting essentialism, actually set itself up as *undermining* indentity-based politics?
