Edward Said had an article recently in the NY Times magazine in which he said that the idea of an independent Palestinian state, separate from Israel and comprised of Gaza and the West Bank, is actually a bad idea. Far better to have a sort of bi-nationalism in which Palestinians enjoy all the rights and privileges of Israeli citizens, according to Said.
