Point taken -- I don't want want to sound like some effing IBM ad! I'm simply impressed at what the WWW has done *already* to bring otherwise disparate people together despite those limitations.

Re Alex's: "I think specific programs for liberation are kind of silly, especially ones that concentrate on technology as the primary liberating force."

Jacques Ellul is another of my intellectual heroes, so I'm not normally a fan of technological advance per se. But I must say, I see liberating potential in the Web that I see in no other high-tech tool.
