That is true, but is not most of the bourgeois social 'science' trying to portray bourgeois social institutions as 'natural' and every other institutions are 'man-made?' (if memory serves, Marx had a comment on that, comparing bourgeois political science to religion).
My point was not to defend Kotkin's argument, which _is_ a piece of bourgeois propaganda, but to address the real issues on which that propaganda is built.
To reiterate: restructuring/balkanization of corporate operations, low wages, and threats of relocation are real problems that unions must address if they want to be successful - regardless of what bourgeois mouthpieces have to say on that subject.
