I've been meaning to set up Linux for about 5 years now. Now that I have a PC with a CD-ROM drive, I'm thinking I might just get one of those Linux user manuals that comes with the Linux software on a CD-ROM.

A coupla questions:

Must I partition my HD in order to run DOS/Windows programs? I thought Linux had an emulator program?

How difficult is Linux to install (and partition my HD, if need be)?
