I don't know where this was read and I strongly think that it is inaccurate, especially given that McCloskey is in the economics dept. at U. of Iowa, not history (although may have some such affiliation). As someone who has encountered McCloskey up close personally (no, not THAT close!) I must say that it is a fascinating business. There is a continuity. But, Donald was an apparently macho aggressive University of Chicago type who used to play football. Deirdre is most definitely a woman, whatever may be the exact nature of baggage or lack thereof in the lower extremities, quite a charming woman I might add.
