Re Butler's bad writing:
I was reading the Chronicle of Higher Education the other day, and there was a quote from Homi Bhabba (sp?), the postcolonial literary theorist who got second place in the bad writing award. He said he was proud to get the award with Butler, as they often collaborate on projects, and write each others books and articles. At least the guy's got a sense of humour.
