A brilliant Welles touch, to be asked (at heston's request it seems) to direct the film of a medicore book, and to make it so much more by switching the roles of the white cop with a Mexican wife to the film's American-employed Mexican cop with a white wife. Still a trashy melodrama, but a brilliant trashy melodrama.

Tania: 'People. What does it matter what you say about people.'
