Later, a small protest meeting at the air force base of Kleine Brogel was declared illegal again by the local mayor. People were arrested. By then, it became clear that the Belgian minister for the Interior had advised 'his' mayors to ban all protest meetings. Some of them took the advise, others didn't.

In the meanwhile about 90 organisations signed a platform-text against the Nato bombing campaign AND against the (actions of the) Serbian regime. Among these 90 organisations were most of the youth movements, development ngo's, the Flemish Green party and different (small) Flemish socialist parties (KP and SAP). This platform organised a national protest meeting in Brussels, on 2 May, 14h. Permission was granted by the mayor of Brussels.
According to the organisers about 6-7000 people marched through Brussels, government sources mentioned 3000 people. (You'll find the pictures at http://hgins.uia.ac.be/u/carpent/pict_reeks2.html)
