The major Serbian Orthodox monastery belt runs from Pec in the west to the southeast down to Prizren in the central south and beyond. Most of that territory is actually in Metohija proper, rather than Kosovo, although Pristina and Kosovo Polje are in Kosovo (which was named for Kosovo Polje, the field of blackbirds).
