firstly, who made this odd connection to suggest that a draft would be a good thing. what? so the 50% of the population who doesn't go to college get to be the lucky ones? coz i honestly don't think you're going to convince anyone that a 20 yr. old ought to give up their education so they can served 2 yrs in the service.

so no not as many killed & wounded, but soldiers were sent home in bodybags. i'd suggest that lack of protest had little to do with the so-called lack of dead and wounded, but rather with the great fear of the commies.

as for the draft, gee whiz Paula doncha remember the Elvis gets drafted, bravely gives up hot career to do his duty fighting the commies meets Priscilla in Germany love story. a grrrl like you having spent so many yrs in the music biz, fershame....
