this would be the for-profit 'oxygen media' that the markle foundation (run by former clinto AG-nominee zoe baird) gave money to.

This project has two components: First, Markle has made a

Program-Related Investment of $3,538,000 over three years to

form a partnership with Oxygen Media called the Oxygen /

Markle Pulse. The Pulse will conduct and make public the

results of broad longitudinal and topical research on

information needs and attitudes of women, and will create a

new kind of "feedback loop" in which the audience research

can directly impact the online and cable programming. This

activity is meant to demonstrate ways to increase

individuals' access to information that empower people to

influence matters of importance to them and learn about how

this process can be facilitated by the interactive nature of

the medium.

Second, a grant of $1,000,000 has been made to the Markle

Foundation to create a "seed fund" for experimental

programming or other activity in collaboration with Oxygen

Media that supports topics of important public needs, or

explores opportunities to use cross-platform media in

innovative ways.
