global riot!

If I could possibly use the Internet for my own rather selfish ends re: the day of protest . . .

I'm a big bloke, 6ft tall, slightly overweight. I have scruffy collar-length ginger hair and wear a navy pinstripe suit. I'm a fairly recognisable guy, and would just like to make the following statement:

If any of the anarchists on lbo-talk see me on Nov 30, I've probably just popped out for a sandwich. I'm not involved in exploitation of the third world directly, although I suppose some of the banks I cover are. I really don't think I deserve to have my head broken, and I'd honestly rather be left out of any rioting that goes on. I might be in the mood to buy drinks if the anarchy is not of sufficient scale to close down the pubs. Oh yeh, and Rabobank is a mutually owned Dutch farmers' co-operative, so they probably don't deserve it either.

thank you for your time

But isn't it nice to know they're worried?

The bourgies do seem to be getting nervous about net-linked radicals. The guy I interviewed on the radio last Thursday, David Henderson, former chief economist of the OECD, is beside himself at the way webbed-up NGOs were able to derail the MAI. That cross-border solidarity we've been talking about for ages is now a possibility in a way it never was before. Maybe there is something to the New Economy talk after all!
