There is a consensus, but consensuses can be proved wrong later. Both the weather and the human body are extremely complex systems which are nowhere near fully understood, so that you won't find conclusive, iron-clad proof of the sort which used to justify (for instance) Newtonian physics. Which means that the fun of anathematizing and excommunicating disbelievers probably ought to be put off for a while.
