Black disenfranchisement: how will the left respond?

The Greens should take this up, since the Democrats at large haven't. Gore, desperate enough to endorse (backhandedly) those longshot potential PR nightmares, the lawsuits in Martin and Seminole counties, hasn't said a damn thing about black disenfranchisement. If he won't in extremis, when will he? Doesn't this provide yet another reason for an independent left power base?
