It falls to me to point out that "cocksucker" is by its very nature a
misogynistic and anti-gay term, when used as an epithet. (Just think
about it for a minute.)

Its widespread currency as an all-purpose insult amongst otherwise
"progressive" types, especially het men, calls to mind anecdotes of the
1960s and beyond, whereby enlightened male radicals still expected their
girlfriends to pick up after them, and couldn't see or wouldn't own up
to the contradictions.

And then, further back, there were the schoolyard bullies who pushed
over the weaklings and called them "girls". . .

Still, one is - admittedly - hard-pressed to find an adequate
substitute. But one ought to try.
