I am guilty of not being clearer in my writing. I didn't mean to imply that the Nathan isn't an activist. I don't know what his activist stripes are. I should have re-worded that paragraph. I meant to say that my old roommate, who is a smart guy who has been in academia for too long and who has never been an activist, is royally pissed off about the outcome of the election. To me, this is remarkable.
Changing gears yet again--it will be interesting to read what the African American punditocracy has to say about George W.'s cabinet choices. Are they going to give Colin Powell a free pass? Or can we hope for some harsh and well-deserved criticism?
