Let me see. If the NYC unions collectively put several hundred thousand workers in the streets to protest workfare and austerity budgets, this would be marginal to what goes on in the city? Admittedly, the unions are pretty marginal now to what goes on in the city - except that their silent complicity is very useful to the governing elite - but does it always have to be that way?
