The ruling class own the means of ideological production (like the mass
media), whereas we don't. We have small presses, leaflets, and meetings in
church basements, not because we think "small is beautiful," but because we
simply do not have the same resources at hand. That is why we cannot
employ the same means as the bourgeoisie.

CB: Down through history, the ruling classes almost always have control of more hardware than we , the revolutionary classes, do. And too, today still, therefore , we must have better software than they do. Ironically, activist materialists must have better ideas than the bourgeoisie in order to compensate for their advantage in means and instruments of ideological production.
To have better ideas, for one thing, we must have a more democratic society of thinkers than the bourgeoisie. The socialist epistemology is "two heads are better than one".
