The folks at the Reg (http://www.theregister.co.uk/) say AMD's Athlon is a superior piece of engineering compared to Intel's Pentium architecture, and can easily be tuned to 1 Ghz and higher, more than matching Intel's roadmaps; they're also slashing prices like there's no tomorrow. Global corporate competition was never fun, but the scale and intensity of competition nowadays is a sight to behold.
