I've noticed he has become a frequent voice on our pacifica station KPFK - Marc Cooper has had him on his show.

I do agree with you wholeheartedly. Perhaps it is a compliment not to have been noted by the neoliberal Nichols but there are thousands of people out there who depend on the Nation so they can join the coffee klatch conversation and it is better that the disability rights movement is included, even given superficiality.
