So democratic & devoted to freedom of speech & thought that old men from the old militarist regime have been able to prosper in public life, including in the highest positions of the government.... Who is to say that militarists should be excluded from public life? There is no room for political correctness in liberal democracy! Prosperity has made up for the de facto one-party state in the minds of most Japanese voters till now, but the decade-long decline, which may very well continue in the near future, may lead to a polity without _any_ redeeming feature.
