The first law of revolution is "Don't let the bastards get you down." If you connect yourself with a pack of murderous, lying, hypocritical thieves you'll get depressed. It's not like they're _offering_ you anything, so you could go away saying you got something out of it. If you get depressed, you won't see opportunities and possibilities you might otherwise see, or you won't have the spirit to pursue them. Pulling that little lever in the voting booth is like turning out the light.
In other words, the really important effect of the election is not the one-one-hundred-millionth of a choice that you put into it, but what _it_ puts into _you_. _You_ might do something worthwhile, whereas it is obvious that we can hope for nothing from this election but more tired, cynical thuggery enlivened by the occasional flash of psychopathic violence. More of the same, in other words.
At least, that's how I see it. Others may feel differently about it, in which case they should go vote their heads off.
