Whimper whimper whimper... Larry Lindsey replaces Gene Sperling as Asst. to the President for Economic Policy... whimper whimper... Larry Kudlow replaces Roger Ferguson as Vice Chair of the Federal Reserve... whimper whimper

That's a different matter. I was speaking to the fear of white men on the left. Junior Hoffa is now our foremost progressive union president (tho I believe the Cal Nurses Assn endorsed Nader). It could be noted that many union officials have "endorsed" the Labor Party, but the terms of this endorsement are crafted to permit them to endorse Democratic politicians in elections, when it counts.

As to sabotaging Prince Albert, I confess to being conflicted. A rip-roaring Ralph campaign could usher in a Democratic House of Reps, arguably more valuable than a President Al. Second, a Ralph campaign tends to confine Buchanan to the right, and thereby to be more of a nuisance to Schrub. PB has been morphing to his 1930's reactionary-style self of late, in my view, and shedding his populist pretenses. third, as Ralph's arguments gain visibility, it could help Gore because in the end; those mobilized by such arguments could decide to vote pragmatically.

I see zero effect on the Fed in all this. We'd need bankers' heads on pikes to cause the BoG to take notice.

On the other hand, unlike Ralph, Al lets his employees unionize. Obviously there is much worse that could happen w/President Schrub. Like destruction of AFDC. Oops, that happened already.
