The Labour/Alliance government are in the process of killing the much hated,
by unions, employment contracts act. If any one is interested in a summary
of the changes (major)  I can forward them a copy of the CTU's (union peak
org) summary of key provisions.
If anyone wants to checkout a model of Union organising in adverse
circumstances (legally probably worse than a right to work state) try
