The CP in Italy by the and 50's was a social-democratic party with
regards to economic transformation in the short to medium term (and
perhaps long) even as in their international allegiances they reflected
much of the same tendancies of any Euro CP of the day. Bologna and the
Emilia-Romagna region also had and has the most extensive co-op system
anywhere. That region is still solidly left to the point where one finds
"entrepreneurs" who speak fondly of Gramsci et al.-they didnt just vote
for efficiency.
