Charles, I think you are exaggerating their efficiency and role as gang labor bosses. They are mere schmoozers, brahmins, theologians, official story tellers, upholders of the official legitimation mythology. The real gang labor bosses are corporate CEOs who own the US government.

Hey Wojtek, How's it going. I take your point, although we might think of the CEO's as the plant managers and the economists as the line supervisor/forepeople.
