C.L.R. James Socialism from Below Reading Group
What: Group to read and discuss works in the tradition of "socialism from below," the tradition best represented by Rosa Luxemburg, Leon Trotsky, Antonio Gramsci, C.L.R. James, Raya Dunayevskaya, Ernest Mandel, Hal Draper, Kim Moody, Mike Davis, and others. Kick off will be a reading of "The Black Jacobins," a history of the Haitian slave revolt led by Toussaint L'Ouverture, by noted socialist and Pan-Africanist C.L.R. James
Where: GWU, Phillips Hall, Room 109. (Phillips Hall part of "Academic Center" and almost right on the corner of I (Eye) and 22nd St, NW, one block East of the Foggy Bottom Metro)
