Note that these "love bug" problems existed to the same degree with "Melissa", and in a more general sense, have been a problem with email since the 1970's.

It's not de Guzman who should take the heat. It's Microsoft, for, once again, lacking security. It's like they're in 1975 and designing VMS. Totally stupid.

Tech trivia: Windows NT actually has MORE security than Linux. The issue is social - people use security schemes only when they correspond to real-life security concerns. NT's does not mesh well, and Linux (while not perfect) is a better fit because it is more usable. NT, unlike Unix, was developed with minimal social input. Unix is maximally social, and is becoming even more social, so it'll continue to be the better software.
