Also, Wynton [] [Marsalis] broke strikers' picket lines last week to perform at Ohio State's Schottenstein Arena. Gwendolyn Brooks refused to cross the same picket lines earlier in the week. Wynton said, "It's in my contract." He could be sued for breach of contract, he said. He forgot to mention the "no play no pay" provision. A more likely reason for showing up. Evidently, Gwendolyn performs without contract. Andy Geiger, OSU athletic director, who's mentioned in the Stan Getz biography for helping Getz get off alcohol, introduced Wynton.
