I'm emerging from my lurkitude for a moment to ask a broad question regarding the OAS, viz. where is a good source of information on it? I've received something lately regarding the "unfair propaganda" from the anti-FTAA movement (see http://www.tao.ca/~stopftaa/), and I wanted to know more about the history of the OAS and what it does before I respond.
Opinions are good too, regarding (but not limited to) questions such as:
*Would you describe the poverty alleviation programs of the OAS as progressive? As a figleaf? As something else?
*Ditto on human rights, election monitoring, etc.
*How about transparency?
Well yall, at least one good thing is coming out of this movement: slobs like me are going back to school and catching up on everything (and that's alot) that passed us by as we languished in Reagan's shadow.
In solidarity, david
(PS: if its not too much trouble, please CC any responses directly to me, since I get LBO-talk in digest form. Thanks.)
