If I remember correctly, as early as 1919 Hugo Haase was yelled off the stage at the first
Peoples' National Assembly in Weimar when he warned of the German General Staff's hold on
the army and undue behind-the-scenes influence in the formation of the new Socialist
government. He was drowned out and forced to end his speech when he began reading off the
list of names of victims of the Moabit massacre, in which as many as 2000 Sparts were gunned
down at Moabit prison for taking part in the Alexanderplatz rebellion. And he himself was
assassinated shortly thereafter...
