American male is a peculiar animal, a cross breeding between the cock and the sheep. On the surface, he is cocky - "in-your-face" arrogant, ostentatiously "tough" and individualistic, contemptuous of anything that smacks of effeminate or intellectual dispositions. Beneath the surface, however, he is a sheep, blindly following the herd and eagerly accepting dominance of other males as long as they appear sufficiently "tough" and "cocky."

Bush is a perfect incarnation of these two traits, whereas both Clinton and Gore were too effeminate and intellectual. That explains why the American male loves the former and passionately hates the later. Any suggestion that there is anything else but that gut reaction in the political consciousness of teh American male (regardless of his socio-economic status) borders on gross overestimation of his intelligence.

In my 20 or so years in this country, 8 out every 10 persons with whom I managed to have an intelligent conversation are women. Most men seem incapable of talking of anything other than sports, cars, their sexual prowess, and liberal-bashing.
