you didn't send the offending leaflet, ian murray did i believe. he forwarded a post that used .HTML in order to get fancy extras such as bold, italic, and colored text. ian should have, long ago, turned off .HTML in his options in microsloth, primarily because he is more susceptible to viruses, worms, trojan horses when using it, but also because it is irresponsible to send HTML mail to mailing lists: folks who use unix based email readers can't read those kinds of mail especially easily because .HTML tags surround the text.

if folks don't get it yet, this is what our list kvetcher, Barry, has been complaining about for weeks. it's a sad state of affairs when lefties cannot respect others, cannot send emails that will get read by everyone, particularly an announcement like that one which one presumes the sender wants others to read, AND who fail to realize that doug pays more money for HTML text. it all adds up.

this will be the third time i've posted it, but here goes: http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/help/html-off.html (commonly used mail progs) http://www.amsat.org/amsat/listserv/express.html (outlook) http://www.derby.org/ramsnet/binaryfaq.html (outlook and eudora)

bitchily,

kelley
