So now a parody of Heartfield's posting, with its calls to the parents of New York City to be concerned with how I teach -- all because of a refusal to excuse American inaction over the Rwandan genocide, has become the occasion for calling me an "egocentric nut." And I foolishly thought that the "anti-Communist/Stalinist" bit was about as low a form of "political" discourse as one could go here.

Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never has, and it never will. If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet deprecate agitation are men who want crops without plowing the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightening. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its waters. -- Frederick Douglass --
